Our history

In the beginning
FareShare Brighton and Hove was set up in 2002 by City Gate Community Projects (www.citygatechurch.org.uk) to bring food to the 11 services in the city serving hot food to homeless people in Brighton and Hove.

Since 2002 the project has grown from a small service delivering twice a week, to a handful of projects with a total of around 300kg in a week. Today, FareShare Brighton and Hove is an essential community food service that provides over 4.5 tonnes of food a week, in twice daily deliveries to over 50 projects in Brighton, Hove, Worthing and Lewes.

Ten years young
In 2012, FareShare Brighton and Hove celebrated its 10th anniversary with a concert for supporters, volunteers and projects.

In the Ten Years that FareShare has been active around the city we have delivered nearly 2,000 tonnes of food to those most vulnerable within society.
